A non -profit corporation wanted to expand their existing facility, the former Cleveland School in Keene, within a tight budget. The existing building was characterized by the State Historic Preservation Office as "A very fine example of brick Georgian Revival design...an attractive example of progressive school architecture of the early 20th century." The 7,000 square foot addition, compatible in appearance with the historic original, is located behind the existing building.

The design complements the strong roof forms and central plan of the existing 1930's structure. The project was completed for a total construction cost of $245,515 (1989), including change orders, 12 percent below our initial estimate of $280,000. The facility includes a kitchen for a hot meals program and houses newly established infant and toddler child care programs.
