The Learning Center at Concord Hospital

Child Care

Interiors Planning Architecture

One design goal was for all activity rooms was to have an abundance of natural light. Having classrooms face west and south, together with exterior windows on at least two walls achieves this objective. A residential feel was also essential; this was reinforced through the use of wood doors, interior trim, cabinets and choice of light fixtures. Each classroom also has access to a large porch space, providing controlled exterior playspace for all types of weather.

This newly completed, two-story new Children’s Learning Center was designed with the child’s needs in mind. The tri-color and multi-textural banding of siding, along with the deep porches was introduced as a design element to reduce the scale of the structure and add a residential quality to the building.

Nestled into the side of a steep slope, the main entrance is located on the upper level close to the parking lot. The building’s 2-story design is more suitable to the steep slope of the site and provides maximum open space for landscaped play yards.
